ROB
KUSEL
Rob is Vice President and a Partner with
Essex & Drake since 2005. From 2002 to 2004, Rob served
as the Director of Development and External Affairs for
Blue Oak School, the first independent school in the Napa
Valley, where he raised more than $6M for facilities and endowment. |
Prior to Blue Oak, Rob spent five years as an executive with companies
which specialized in developing web-based programs to assist
non-profits in achieving membership-relations and fundraising
success. He has worked with GroupStone, Inc., Berkeley, CA,
and San Francisco based Entango Corporation and LocalVoice.com.
His institutional advancement experience includes working as
Director of Development for Major Gifts, Stanford University,
Palo Alto, where he raised over $20M in four years. Prior to
Stanford, Rob was Director of the six-year $103M Centennial
Campaign for The Hotchkiss School, Lakeville, CT, the then largest
campaign undertaken by an independent school nationally.
An avid soccer player and fan, Rob was a college All-American
and has coached youth soccer for many years. Since 2001, he
has served on the Stanford University Soccer Advisory Board
as chair on the sub-committee for facilities and long-range
planning. In addition he serves on Napa’s New Tech Foundation
and Acorn Soupe boards. He also serves on the Advisory Board
of Common Knowledge, Inc., a San Francisco based software company
serving the nonprofit sector.
Rob earned a Bachelor’s of Arts with honors in French
Literature and an additional concentration in Economics from
Williams College. Following Williams, he earned a Master’s
in Education Administration from the University of California
at Berkeley. During his educational career, Rob was awarded
The Klingenstein Foundation Summer Fellow from Columbia University, and a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer
Fellowship at the University of Wyoming.
